Vietnam reopen visa application (e-visa & visa on arrival) for citizens of Luxembourg starting from March 15, 2022

Updated: 08:26 PM - 22 Dec,2024

During the height of the Covid 19 pandemic from March 2020, Vietnam has to implement several travel restrictions to prevent the virus from entering the country. In line with this, they have temporarily suspended the issuance of visas to all foreign visitors. Vietnam has also closed its airports and canceled all International flights temporarily.

But now that the crisis is over and the world is trying to go back to normal, Vietnam has once again started issuing visas. The country hopes to invite more foreign visitors into the country once again and recover from the loss brought about by the coronavirus crisis.

For citizens of Luxembourg, applying for your visa to Vietnam is so easy. In fact, you will have two choices for your visa. You can have the e-visa or the visa on arrival. What are these visas all about? Read on to find out.

What Is Vietnam E-Visa?

Also called the electronic visa, the e-visa is among those visas that the Vietnam Immigration Department will give to foreign visitors. Applying for this visa is truly convenient since everything is done online. You don’t have to go to an embassy and you can send in your application right in the comfort of your home.

The e-visa is good for single entry with a maximum stay of 30 days. When your online application is approved, the Vietnam Immigration will send the e-visa to your email. All you need to do is to print it and bring it to your trip. This is what you’ll show the Immigration officer in order to be allowed to enter. Once you have the e-visa printed, you can use this visa to enter in several entry points in Vietnam. Aside from the airport, this visa is also accepted at the ports and land border checkpoints.

What is Vietnam Visa on Arrival?

For those who wanted a much longer vacation in Vietnam, the Visa on Arrival might be a better option. If you’re going to apply for this visa, you will be asked to choose between single entry and multiple entries. Also, this visa will allow you to stay in the country for a maximum of 60 days.

As the name suggests, the visa on arrival is something that you’ll get only upon arrival. But there are certain requirements that you need to prepare in order to claim this visa. First of all, you need a pre-approval letter. You will get this letter after you register online. When you register, there will be an application form that you need to fill out. Make sure all details are accurate. Once you receive the pre-approval letter, print it and bring it on your trip.

When you arrive in Vietnam, look for the Visa Landing counter. Here, submit the pre-approval letter, application form, passport-sized photos, and your passport. Then pay for the stamping fee of around $25. You can pay this with cash, either in USD or VND.

Remember that the counter for visa on arrival can only be found at the airports of Vietnam. Therefore, this visa is not applicable to those who are entering Vietnam by land or on a cruise or ship.

What’s The Best Vietnam Visa for Citizens of Luxembourg?

Both the Vietnam e-visa and Visa on Arrival are great options for citizens of Luxembourg who wish to visit Vietnam soon. But between the two, which visa is right for you?

The answer will depend on how long you intend to stay in Vietnam. Also, if you’re entering through the port or at land border checkpoints, the e-visa is what you should get. But if you are visiting for more than a month and you’re entering via the major airports of Vietnam, then go ahead, and get the visa on arrival. With the visa on arrival, you can apply for a multiple-entry visa that will let you stay in the country for up to 60 days.

When Should You Apply for your Visa?

Now that Vietnam has just opened its visa issuance system, many tourists will start sending in their applications soon. This could delay visa processing. So to avoid any problems, try to send your application as early as now. But if your trip is happening soon, then you should apply for the rush processing. This will cost you more but you could get your visa faster.

Another thing to remember is to make sure that the details you entered in your visa application are accurate. Data inaccuracies are often the cause of delays. Make sure you have your passport with you when you fill out the application form online. The immigration officer will compare the details on your passport to that of your visa. If some information will not add up correctly, then you could be denied entry.
